Supporting the Craft
True to its origins, the Masons company supports the craft of stonemasonry in
a wide variety of ways.
It provides financial support for apprentice stonemasons and trainee stone carvers
wishing to further their knowledge and skills at approved colleges.
It provides advice for stonemasons and stone carvers through the members of its
Training Committee who regularly visit the Building Crafts College and The City and Guilds of London Art School.
It has set up an award scheme for skilled masons called The Duke of Gloucester Awards.
It is represented on the Council of the City & Guilds of London Institute which is the premier awarding body for vocational qualifications in this country
and around the world.
The Masons Company is actively supporting the Cathedrals Workshop Fellowship, which is promoting the exchange of apprentices and craftsmen between cathedrals
to increase the body of knowledge and skills for this important conservation work.
