Weald & Downland Museum

On this 50 acre site are some 50 exhibit buildings, most of which have been rescued from other parts of the country and re-erected at the museum.  Many of the exhibit houses are furnished to recreate historic domestic interiors.

There is a regular programme of domestic and craft demonstrations, and the Masons Company supports an exhibition in one of the buildings and here are regular demonstrations of the stonemason’s and stone carver’s crafts.

The Museum has an extensive artefacts collection which is housed in a spectacular Gridshell Building.

There are special event days, inspired by the Museum's collections, such as the Rare Breeds Show, the Festival of Steam or the Autumn Countryside Show.

The museum runs an extensive programme of adult-education courses in traditional rural trades and crafts, historic domestic life and building conservation.
